And my new agent is...

8ball.jpgStill a mystery.

Okay, I promise that when the dust settles I’ll do a full disclosure of this whole crazy process. I’ll post my query letter, pics of my partial packet (I did it a little differently), lists of agents that I talked to, some of the more interesting rejection letters, etc.

But for now, my head is swimming. In less than two weeks I’ve had 13 requests for the full manuscript of THE PANAMA HOTEL. (That name will probably change).

Along the way, I’ve had several offers of representation, a handful of rejections and am still waiting to hear back from a few agents before I decide. I’ve talked to some wonderful people too––agents, authors (clients for references) and editors.

In the end, choosing an agent is going to be a very hard decision, with or without my Magic 8-Ball. But it’s an amazing problem to have––stay tuned!

Very hard decision indeed!

This week has been such a whirlwind of offers; just sit back and enjoy it...

Commercial AND literary? That's what every good agent will want to represent. YOU. Hard to believe you wrote all that in 2 months, but it just reflects your talent for writing! And you are so modest and real about it all. It is such a pleasure and honor to share this with you––truly the experience of a lifetime!
Your biggest fan-

Rock star, Jaye? Is that anything like a literary gangsta?

You will have to learn the art of hiding behind your fan, and demurely saying, "I'd love to, but my dance card is filled"

Still waiting to hear back from a few more agents.

Killed some time last night by going to Barnes & Noble and perusing the acknowledgement pages of books represented by the agents I’m talking to. Some praised their agents profusely (you know who you are). Others were conspicuously absent.

I want to post something congratulatory and halfway intelligent, but all I can do at the moment is experience heart palpitations on your behalf.

It's kind of silly how often I'm checking back for updates, but it's not every day I get to live vicariously through this process.

Jaye--almost as silly as me staring at my cell phone all day. I had one more request for the full today, and two rejections. Just waiting to hear back from three other agents. Hopefully tomorrow, either way, so I can get on with my decision.

Dana--You got it, if and when it ever makes its way into print. But, the name will change. I'm 99% certain of it.
